Sustainability has always been at the very core of our business model. It’s part of every single decision we make, because for us doing business respectfully, in harmony with our shared environment and our community, is paramount.
Beyond dollars and growth at all costs, we believe the positive impact we create is the true measure of our success.

One of the most concrete and transparent way we found to establish and measure our goals for improvement in all spheres of the business is to be a Certified B Corporation  a status we achieved in September 2015.

There is no end goal to sustainability; it’s a process. We have decided to place our sustainability efforts and focus where we can have the strongest impact: our choice of local suppliers, packaging, and ingredients.

Supplier Impact

Whenever possible (about 95–99% of the time), we work with local Canadian, privately owned and family-run businesses. It’s a great way to keep close relationships with our suppliers and work in collaboration to enhance local economic development and prosperity.

For full transparency, we evaluate each new important supplier with an in-depth questionnaire divided into four sections: Product & Sustainability, Environment, Workers and Governance.

Packaging Impact

Our take-home bulk options and in-store refill stations greatly reduce packaging needs. Bulk buying removes thousands of plastic bottles from circulation each year and represents a positive impact on the environmental and economic costs of added cardboard, transportation, manufacturing, and end-of-life management!

When it comes to product packaging, our approach is reduction and eco-design at the source. We are constantly rethinking our designs and working with our suppliers towards that goal. Up to now, we have managed to:

1. Include 25% of post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR) in our Laundry Soap Bottle.

2. Switch from a 4L plastic jug to a 4L Refill bag-in-a-box for our Laundry, Hand and Dish Soaps,
reducing plastic use by at least 80%!

3. Provide only BPA-free bottles.

4. Use an innovative Omnidegradable® (compostable) bag for our Dish Tabs.

5. Use easily recyclable plastics, such as HDPE #2, for all our bottles.

Product Impact

We believe in full transparency, which is why we list ALL of our ingredients on our labels using the International Nomenclature for Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI). This standardized terminology provides our customers with easily accessible information on our ingredients.

We are Leaping Bunny Certified and adhere to Leaping Bunny’s Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals, which requires companies to collect signed statements from their manufacturers and suppliers ensuring all ingredients, formulations, and finished products are free of new animal testing.

We have created a detailed Ingredients Table on our website to help you understand the role of each ingredient in your TUC products and its environmental impact.

We are always on the lookout for more safe and natural ingredients for our formulas.
