At The Unscented Company, our mission is to create practical, multi-purpose products designed to simplify your daily life by doing more with less. And because we love a challenge, we’re always looking for creative ways to push the boundaries of what our products can do.
That’s why we put together this handy guide with 12 clever ways to use our 12% cleaning vinegar.
Getting started
Vinegar is a natural and effective solution for descaling:
Showerhead
Soak it in vinegar to bring the water pressure back to life. For a handheld showerhead, simply place it in a small container of vinegar. For one that’s fixed, attach a vinegar-filled Ziploc bag around it with an elastic. Leave it for at least an hour, and repeat 2–3 times a year.
Kettle
Fill with half vinegar and half water, bring to a boil and… so long, limescale!
Tiles & grout
A toothbrush dipped in vinegar works wonders to make grout look like new.
Leveling up
If you’re ready to go a step further, here are a couple more places where vinegar’s descaling effectiveness is especially satisfying:
Toilet tank
Pour in a splash of vinegar, let it sit, then scrub away mineral deposits. Repeat every two months to keep buildup at bay.
Shower curtain
Fill the tub with hot water, add at least two cups of vinegar, and let the curtain soak. It’s an easy way to say goodbye to water spots, soap scum, and limescale.
Vinegar is also a natural deodorizer with plenty of multi-purpose uses:
Dishwasher & washing machine
Run an empty cycle with one cup of vinegar for a fresh, clean, and odour-free inside.
Fridge
Wipe down shelves with a vinegar-dampened cloth to get rid of stubborn smells.
Laundry
Soak musty clothes or towels in one cup of vinegar mixed with three cups of water, then wash as usual.
Cutting boards
A quick vinegar soak disinfects and deodorizes.
Other creative and surprising uses
Pumpkins & balcony plants
Mix vinegar with peppermint oil for an all-natural squirrel repellent.
Hairbrushes
Give brushes a warm vinegar bath to dissolve product residue and sebum. For kids’ brushes, add a few drops of lavender essential oil — perfect for surviving lice season.
With just one product, you can clean, deodorize, and freshen so many corners of your home. Who knew vinegar could do it all?
